Everyone should be lucky enough to have a friend like Holly. I think the narrator's life will be much better without Frank.

Carpe Diem #1781: Dead Leaves

the leaves falling down
colorless on the cold wind
my heart breaks like ice

~Cie~

Notes:
I guess I came close to following the traditional Haiku rules, but if not, you can tell me that I suck and should go die in a fire like the trash poet (and excuse for a human being) that I am. For me, the expression is always more important than the rules, and it's difficult to teach a very old and stupid dog new tricks.

November PAD Chapbook Challenge 2019: Day 1: Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time
I dreamed
once upon a time
he was
but now there's nothing left
except the misery
as summer disappears
and the barkers burst the colorful balloons
and take down the faire
players only love you
when you bring them money
gas, grass, or ass
no-one rides for free
little boys grow up
become corrupt
use and throw away
stupid girls
once upon a time
I believed in something
once upon a time
I thought someone waited for me
now I know the truth
the only one waiting 'round the corner
to put his arms around me
is death
that no matter where I am
I'm just two steps ahead of that man
some days I'm philosophical
some days I'm scared out of my fucking mind
and some days I'd welcome the bastard
with open arms
once upon a time
you were mine
you loved this wretched, broken thing
but like a leaf on the breeze you blew away
some things are too corrupted to love
I thought I saw you coming back to me
but then I woke from my dream
the fairytale disappeared
in a puff of smoke
like Little Jackie Paper
you snuffed out your dreams of Puff
dragons aren't real
magic only exists in fairy tales
and love is nothing but a lie
once upon a time
I believed in happy ever after
now I only believe
that dreams vanish
and hearts break
and
everything
dies

OctPoWriMo 2019: Day 9: What My Eyes Saw

I Blinked and the World Was Gone
Photoshop Manipulation by The Real Cie

My eyes saw that in the end
Everything was just a lie
Seeing is not believing
Hearing is deceiving
Truth is but a silent sigh
Perspective nothing but perception
Reality is, on one hand, subjective
And on the other hand as objective
As a knife to the spine
My eyes are but windows
To the lies my soul tells

OctPoWriMo 2019: Day 1: Dark Night of the Soul

Awakening from our dream of love, we see that once again
The dark night of the soul descends

Bleakness that no shiny happy folderol can end
Chaos reigns instead

Doubt descends to destroy
Every beautiful thing
Found in its path

Ghouls dig into the graves
History is unearthed

Incapable of believing
Jealousy
Kills
Love

Morning rushes away
Night descends

Old fears
Prey on us in the pitch black of our doubts

Regret overtakes
Soul fire ignites the last vestiges of hope

Tragically, certain ill-advised words cannot be
Unsaid

Vain tears cannot
Win back what was tossed aside

Xenos we are
You fly away

Zeroing the light in my heart
Back
to
Black

~Cie~

Couldn't leave without giving credit to the amazing Amy Winehouse for the inspiration.

Carpe Diem Renga with Jane Reichhold: Placing the Flute

wind perfumed
from a woman's shoulder
desert night
beauty of the soul hidden
beneath harsh exterior

dancing on the beach
I jab a stick into the sky
to break up the blue
blue for those loved by the world
sky is never blue for me

days so complete
words become the calls of birds
the high tide wind
what would it be to feel joy
satisfied at the day's end

placing the flute
against her lips something
slips into place
stupid girl that I once was
believing I could be more

I'm not old
all night my eyes have held
the ancient stars
I was broken before birth
my heart has never been young

moon white water
lovers in the secret cove
Saturday night
I walk on by full knowing
there is nothing there for me

~Jane & Cie~

Notes:
It's possible that for once in my train wreck of an existence I managed to follow directions and didn't, say, create Troiku where Renga was called for. SMDH at my failure to brain when it comes to even the simplest things.
The Hokku (Haiku) of these Renga were created by Jane Reichhold (1937 - 2016). The Ageku (two-line stanza) were created by me.
