My neurological makeup made me a poor candidate for office work. I would become severely clinically depressed after a couple of weeks having to adhere to a schedule that necessitated being awake at 4:30 in the morning. The years that I worked in an office setting were among the worst in my life. I always did much better working evening or night shifts, which generally meant doing physically demanding jobs.
A haven for creative people living with mental illness. This is the place where you can tell it like it is, not yet another place where you have to pretend to be someone you've been told you should be.

I muddled along but my introversion means it was never, ever comfortable.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, I did better with jobs where I could be a performer and crack jokes. I did pretty well as a bartender in a casino. Unfortunately, I got caught up in the social scene and had to take myself out of the atmosphere. If I had known then what I know now, I would have kept my business and personal life from blending.
