WTF Wednesday: Those Damn Annoying Pop-Up Boxes

"Heyyyyyy, I see you're trying to read this post! But don't you want to fucking subscribe to my shit too? I'll only ask you every goddamn time you come back to the site, even if you've already subscribed, Bitch!"

If you know me, you know I have multiple blogs for the various different crap that I do. Check the Blogs of the Netherworld page for more information.

You want to know what none of these sites have or will ever have?
Those goddamn annoying pop-ups that appear right in the middle of the goddamn screen every fucking time you visit the page.
Why would I want to visit a page that is certain to piss me off?
Because some of these blogs have actual good information. But the first thing they do is piss me off with an annoying pop-up.
I am extra done with annoying pop-ups.
If you're going to have a "HEYYYY, YOU WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SHIT" pop-up, at least don't put it in the middle of the goddamn screen! Because you know what that makes readers want to do? Tell you to fuck off!
Advertising is a necessary evil. But I greatly prefer advertising which is informative rather than a form of psychic attack.
So what I want to know on this WTF Wednesday is WTF do I have to do to make those annoying-ass pop-ups fuck right the fuck off?
(Yeah, I'm in a foul mood this morning.)

About Me Monday #1: High School

Image by John Hain from Pixabay

Let's don't beat about the bush, high school was the rat's ass.
Hello and welcome to the new About Me Monday feature on the Crazy Creatives Cheerleading Camp. Today, I will be answering some questions about high school, as provided by Sparks from a Combustible Mind.

Did you know your current significant other?
Let's make it clear right here that I am not romantically involved with any person currently alive on this planet. So, that would be a resounding NO.
Make and year of car?
1978 Chevy Vega. It had a bent axle and I had to compensate for the fact that it always pulled to the right. It was a big adjustment when I got a car that didn't do that.
What kind of job?
I worked putting inserts into the local newspaper, and man did we newspaper stuffers get higher than a kite sometimes.
Where did you live?
I just called it Peyton Place.
Were you popular?
Hell to the no.
Were you in choir?
No. The choir teacher was a bitch and the band teacher was a dick. I was in band previously but in my senior year, I decided I was done with that shit.
Ever get suspended from school?
No, but only because I never got caught.
If you could, would you go back?
"Hey, Cie, if you could, would you go back to a place where you were bullied and ostracized and always getting in fights and where you couldn't fucking stand to be sober and people spread really shitty rumors about you?" Yeah, that sounds like a plan.
Still talk to the person that you went to prom with?
Nope.
Did you skip school?
Not in my senior year. I ditched all the time in my sophomore year and made up for it in my junior year by packing all my necessary credits in so I only had to show up for a couple of classes in my senior year. I was fucking done with that place.
Go to all the football games?
Not after I'd kicked band to the curb.
Favorite subject?
Writing
Do you still have your yearbooks?
Yes
Did you follow the career path you planned?
In this life, nothing has gone as planned.
Did you have a class ring?
Yes
Still close with your best friend?
No
Who was your favorite teacher?
Mr. Farrar. He was my independent studies and communications teacher. He was a very nice man and he treated me like a human being.
What was your style?
Rock band t-shirts and jeans.
Favorite shoes?
Athletic shoes, although I don't think that chugging beer is considered a sport.
Favorite music?
Hard rock and metal, although I did have a soft spot for certain pop and new wave songs.
High school Hair?

The bangs were shorter, but it was a little bit something like this.
What kind of cologne/perfume?
It was cheap and possibly stinky. I've always liked rose scents. There was a perfume you could buy at the dime store called Blue Waltz. It had a pretty bottle. I became allergic to perfumes and colognes and at this point only use essential oils.

How old when graduated?
18
Did you play a sport?
When I was at the beginning of my sophomore year, I was trying to clean up my act. I joined the cross country team and came in dead last at our first meet. I was so ashamed that I quit and went back to my old ways. My former teammates all ridiculed and scorned me. Nothing but one good time after another in good ole Peyton Place!

Share your World 28 March 2019

Here are some questions I've answered for Share Your World. You can read them if you want. Or not, if you don't want. No skin off my nose either way.

What is the best pick me up that you know of?  To shake you out of the blues?

The Blue Garage
Photoshop Image by The Real Cie

How about the blues? The blues is a goddamn art form! That shitty way I feel when my soul starts crashing in on itself and I feel like I'm lying dead at the bottom of a scummy trench? I think that shit should be called "the gray-green death bile from hell." But that's too long to say readily.
Here is a poem which Pepper, the main female protagonist in Team Netherworld's long-running WIP, Fetch, wrote for her beloved Gerry, the Fetch referred to in the story's title. I think it's kind of a poem about having the blues for the blues.

What would be the title of your memoir?
Dark Days: Biography of a Self-Professed Cynic

Where do you like to go when you eat out?
Somewhere cheap where the food tastes good and I'll be served quickly.

Do you believe in luck?
Gratitude Question:

Aside from necessities, what is one thing you couldn’t go a day without?
My son

Notes:
I referenced my own work in this post, which for some reason makes me see the need to mention that I plan to participate in NaPoWriMo in April as I've done every year for the past several years. I'm also planning to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo. I might try to participate in the A to Z blogging challenge if it doesn't turn out to be too muckin' fuch. I haven't decided yet if my participation will be official or unofficial.

A Crappy About Me Meme

Hair: What hair color looks best on you and what’s your natural color?

I’ve been enjoying the darker henna shades of late. My hair is naturally gray.

Skin: Do you tan easily?

If by tan you mean “burn to lobster red,” then, yes.

Eyes: What is your favorite show to watch?

God, I don’t know. I usually fall asleep and then have to restart them. I am happy for Netflix.

Nose: What is your favorite perfume/candle fragrance?

Anything not too overpowering.

Mouth: Do you want to kiss anyone right now?

Oh, you’re looking for your beeswax, I see. You won’t find it here.

Tongue: What was in your last meal?

Truffle mushroom Swiss burger and crispy Brussels sprouts.

Windpipe: Do you sing?

Badly.

Neck: Do you wear necklaces?

Yes.

Ears: How many piercings do you have (if any)?

Two left earlobe, one right.

Cheeks: Do you blush easily?

Yes.

Wrists: Have you ever broken a bone?

Don’t go jinxing me.

Hands: Are you an artist/writer?

You can think I’m one if you want.

Fingers: Do you play an instrument?

Very badly.

Heart: Are you in love? If so, does the one you love know?
I already told you, your beeswax isn’t here.

Lungs: Do you smoke cigarettes?

I did for a cumulative total of about 20 years. I quit in 2006.

Chest: Are your maternal/parental instincts strong?

Yes

Stomach: Do you feel confident in your body image?

Thanks to our society’s very narrow perspective on beauty, hell no.

Back: Are you a virgin?

Yes, I am the Virgin Mary. My son is Jesus.

Hips: Do you like to dance?

Yes. I do it badly.

Thighs: Has anyone ever called you fat or ugly?

Now why the shit would you want to ask something like that under the category “thighs.” Talk about contributing to size shaming.

People who attack other people’s appearance are petty. Fuck ‘em.

Knees: Have you ever cheated on someone?

I’m not sure what that has to do with my knees, but, yes, many years ago. I have always felt terrible about it.

Ankles: Have you ever been arrested?

Yes.

Feet: Favorite pair of shoes?

I tend to wear soft clogs. I have foot problems.

Brain: Anything you want to ask

Why did I do this?

Fiendly Fill-Ins

https://mcguffysreader.blogspot.com/2017/07/fill-in-statements-week-62.html

Week 62: July 14, 2017

1. My inner child really and truly hates me. This part of my psyche does not understand the concept of doing what you have to do to survive, and most of the time that doesn't involve creativity.

2. My favorite month is probably October.

3. My favourite commercial is I avoid commercials.

4. Personally, I don't care for the way this life has turned out. I want a do-over. Or maybe I don't. Perhaps I just want to fade.

TV Show Meme

The TV Shows Questions

1. Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
Star Trek TOS and the original Twilight Zone
2. Name a show you can't miss:
I watch everything on Netflix, so I really don't pay any attention to TV schedules any more.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
There are a few of these, although the number is decreasing as they grow old and their bodies fail them.
4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
Pretty much everybody who is Young and Hot (tm)
5. Name a show you can, and do, quote from:
Star Trek, Supernatural, Futurama. Bite my shiny metal ass!
6. Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
I've liked a few shows that never quite took off.
7. Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
I hum the theme song to M.A.S.H. sometimes. Every now and then the theme for Gilligan's Island will play in my mind.
8. Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
Eh, whatever floats your boat.
9. Name a TV series you own:
The first season of True Blood. The entire Real Ghostbusters cartoons.
10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium, but has surprised you with his/her acting chops in television:
I absolutely adored the Chris Isaak show. It's a shame it never went to DVD.
11. What is your favorite episode of your favorite series?
I based a big part of the past life subplot of Team Netherworld's WIP novel, Fetch (peppersfetch.blogspot.com) on The Lights of Zetar, a much-panned episode of Star Trek TOS that I really loved overall in spite of the fact that there are parts of it that I could certainly nit-pick about.
12. Name a show you keep meaning to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
I have a whole long list of these on Netflix.
13. Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
Sadly, quite a few of the shows I enjoyed along the way fell into this category. Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Three's Company, the list goes on.
14. Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Torchwood made me cry when Captain Jack sacrificed his grandson to save the Earth. NYPD Blue when Jimmy Smits' character died. I can think of more movies than TV shows at this point.
15. What do you eat when you watch TV?
Nuts, cheese, dark chocolate.
16. How often do you watch TV?
A little bit every day
17. What's the last TV show you watched?
Currently watching Futurama
18. What's your favorite/preferred genre of TV?
I tend to watch sci-fi, but also nature shows, cop shows, crime drama, I'm pretty eclectic.
19. What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
Star Trek TOS
20. What TV show do you wish you never watched?
Eh, I don't know. In some ways Bones was pretty good, but they had a habit of size shaming larger people, which I really didn't like.
21. What's the weirdest show you enjoyed?
I don't know. I'm kind of a weird person overall, so maybe all of them.
22. What TV show scared you the most?
I write horror, so most horror stuff doesn't scare me. The Lights of Zetar scared the hell out of me and still does. I will not watch it in the dark.
23. What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
Futurama is pretty funny. Monty Python is a longtime favorite. The first couple seasons of Mork and Mindy were hilarious.
